Shawn Moore has created Vodyssey, a training and mentorship program related to short-term rental (STR) businesses. It was formerly known as Lifestyle Asset University but changed its name due to Utah’s prohibition on the word “university” for companies. Vodyssey offers guidance on how to use Shawn’s approach to construct a lucrative lifestyle asset enterprise/business. So, the question is: What is Vodyssey, and how effective is his method? Is this a good business model to use RIGHT now? Before we dig deeper, it’s essential to know that vacation rentals are a long-term passive income business that requires enormous effort and time to set up. However, Shawn Moore is confident through his training and experience, he can eliminate many of the headaches by showing you step-by-step what to avoid and what to focus on to succeed. What Is Vodyssey?

Vodyssey (formerly Lifestyle Asset University) is an investment system designed by Shawn Moore to help people achieve financial independence by purchasing vacation homes. The website does not provide a clear picture of what is being offered and requires you to contact them before getting any further information. As someone who cares about the safety of personal information, I decided to investigate this program and its contents in more detail.

Who Should Join The Vodyssey Training?

Shawn Moore stated that the Vodyssey training program is for those considering buying a vacation rental. “If you are someone starting in the short-term rental field, those who are looking to rent out vacation spots (from residences to resorts), those who are proprietors of short-term rental businesses who are having difficulty achieving success or enlarging their enterprises, and experienced real estate investors who are thinking about making the transition to short-term rentals then my training is RIGHT for you,” says Shawn. What Do You Get with Vodyssey?

When you join Shawn Moore’s Vodyssey training program, you will LEARN his 3D approach to vacation rental investing:

Acquisition Phase

In the Acquisition Phase, the first step is to formulate a plan for your business, from selecting a theme to designing objectives. You need to identify what type of buyer you are to decide which property is best for you. Additionally, you have to be able to locate profitable markets for your property type.

Management Phase

When you move into the Management Phase, it is essential to determine who your target audience is. To attract this audience, you must provide an experience that reflects your theme. You must also stock your property with high-quality items and make a checklist to guarantee all needs and wants are met. As this is a hyper-local business, you will need someone on-site to manage the check-in/out process, ensure everything runs smoothly, and maintain communication with the renter. You may also need to hire a team for cleaning and maintenance. There are three management styles: self-management, hybrid management, and full-service management.

Marketing Phase

In the Marketing Phase, you will learn how to brand your business to appeal to a particular group of people. You should organize the details and create a setting for the experience. Hiring a professional photographer to take pictures of your property, nearby activities, and attractions is advisable. In addition, you must pay attention to the pricing and set your price range. Furthermore, you can consider using online travel agencies (OTAs) like Airbnb and paid marketing, such as ads or your website. Once your business is stable and successful, you can move away from OTAs. Ultimately, the goal is to build solid foundations with each property to maximize your portfolio in the long run. With that said,

As a member, you will have access to the top designers, photographers, lenders, tax advisors, paid marketing experts & many more – access you can’t get anywhere else.

Shawn claims he has mastered a 9-step process to make passive income through his Vodyssey vacation rentals training. The 3D approach above ties into these nine (9) steps:

1) Mapping Out Your Road

Start shaping your lifestyle business by jotting down what you want to achieve. Find your groove and your flair. Don’t worry; the coaching will guide you through the whole “why, what, and how” thing.

2) Learn About Vacation Ownership

When you get started, knowing as much as possible about the different property types available to you is essential. It’s equally important to know about the pros and cons of each.

3) Identity Those Profitable Markets

Figure out how to select the most suitable real estate market for your particular niche and preference. Take, for instance, a single-family home in an isolated region close to a lake that provides access to activities such as fishing and kayaking.

4) Get Your Team Together

Bring on employees for management, cleaning, and upkeep who are local to the area. Having someone who knows the locale can be beneficial as they can provide information to visitors and suggest fun activities to enhance their experience.

5) Structure Your Deal

Before any agreements, it is essential to have a financial provider set up. Furthermore, explore opportunities for properties that are not publicly available. This program offers resources, such as real estate agents and lenders, that can be utilized.

6) It’s All About Customer Experience

Construct your company based on the unique area you specialize in. Don’t be thrifty when making your holiday home comfortable. Market the experience of staying in your house.

7) Go Live!

Make your listing stand out by detailing the ideal getaway for the intended demographic. Add attractive words and pictures to make it shine. Doing this will help you surpass other listings in your particular market.

8) Establish Your Brand and Get Reviews

Marketing campaigns should take cost into account. Employing a higher price point can draw the eye of potential buyers and create a sense of intrigue. To make the cost reasonable, include visuals and well-crafted descriptions to give shoppers an idea of the quality they’re paying for. Moreover, delivering an excellent customer service experience is essential to garnering positive reviews.

9) Scale Your Business

Shawn Moore and His Vodyssey training recommends that once a business is stable, it should consider taking advantage of paid marketing. The program motivates its members to increase their marketing efforts through paid marketing. This can help them reach an audience beyond the scope of OTAs. For example, you can create run more ads or create a website. Additionally, discount vouchers can effectively draw in more potential customers to view their listings.

How Much Does Vodyssey Cost?

When investing, the cost is always a concern. Vodyssey has a membership fee of around $10,000, with the possibility of discounts as low as $4,800 to $6,800. While the program may be worth the cost to some, the lack of price transparency can push people away. Thus, those considering joining Vodyssey should evaluate if the investment suits their budget and objectives.

Is Vodyssey Legit?

So, here’s the thing,

Shawn Moore and his Vodyssey are NOT a scam because they are legitimate. If you check out their website, you will get a lot of information and read many success stories from their students. But people often read success stories and forget it does take enormous focus, motivation and drive to reach a certain level of success to lead to that financial freedom they have been dreaming about. With that said,

Real estate is never easy to enter because the costs are substantial, and the ROI (return on investment) takes time. For example, some people have to wait years to see their investment start to make money for them. To find out as much as possible, I recently checked out Shawn Moore’s podcast, and I liked his systematic and detailed approach to making money through rental properties. I find his methods to be thorough and practical. So, my overall impression of Shawn Moore’s real estate training is positive. Again, the $4,800 fee is NOT bad because you get a lot of information. Still, I think about the thousands of dollars I will need to start a rental property business, and purchase upsells, and I get nervous…lol. Listen, if you are considering joining, inquire if the $4,800 is all in or if there are additional fees for extra services because knowing their associated costs would be good. Oh, here’s something you can do: listen to Shawn Moore’s Vodyssey podcast because he provides a lot of free information to help you determine if his training is the RIGHT fit for you. And, if you feel you want something that can make you money in just a few weeks, I encourage you to check out another business involving setting up digital real estate properties. It’s less effort, and I collect a nice $500-$2,000+ checks every month afterward (AKA passive income). If you want to LEARN more, then…
