This is a combined lecture course which teaches the student theory and clinical skills needed to work with residents/patients in a skilled nursing facility. The modules covered will prepare you for the State examination. For example, you’ll go through patient rights; communication/interpersonal skills; prevention of unusual occurrences; body mechanics; asepsis; weights and measures; patient care skills; patient care procedures; vital signs; nutrition; emergency procedures; long term care; rehabilitative care; observation and charting; and death and dying.
