COURSE DESCRIPTION
One of the highest paying endorsements to have on your commercial driver’s license is the CDL hazmat endorsement. Having the “hazmat” endorsement will give you the proper approval to transport hazardous materials. For those of you not aware, hazardous materials are very dangerous and knowing how to transport them from different locations will allow you to land higher paying jobs with larger trucking companies.
Hazardous or HAZMAT materials are those that will pose risk and harm to people, property and environment. Some of these materials include explosives, solids, liquids which are both flammable and combustible.
NOTE: Any person applying for or renewing a California commercial driver license (CDL) with a hazardous materials (HAZMAT) endorsement is required to undergo a federal Transportation Security Administration (TSA) security threat assessment (background check) before the endorsement can be issued. The program was implemented to meet the requirements of the USA Patriot Act of 2001.
